Christmas Tree and Snowflake Matchboxes

Hi everyone! It has been awhile since my last post but I have had my sinuses go crazy the last few weeks. When I take meds it pretty much leaves me with a medicine head and all I want to do it lay around and sleep...not good at all. :-( I did have a nice thanksgiving and was able to get out and shop on Black Friday with a friend. I was out at 7ish in the morning and I must say there was hardly anyone out. So there was no dealing with crazy people and I got what I needed and was home by 11:30am. My type of shopping! :-D
Well, I want to share two little matchboxes I created for a swap I was in over on Swap-bot. We had to decorate in a Christmas/Holiday theme and fill with Christmas goodies.

I emptied two 32 count matchboxes and covered with cardstock. This one I had received the "tree" button in a previous swap. I clipped the loop off of the back of the button and after added Ric Rac, button, sequin and dew drop to the sleeve of the matchbox I adhered the tree to the top and then filled the drawer with goodies. Do you see the little gingerbread man ornament I included? :-)

The next matchbox I when with a wintery theme. The beaded snowflake is also from another pervious swap along with the glittery snowflake which I glued together. I added a little pearl dew drop to the top to finish off the snowflake. I printed the Merry Christmas sentiment from the computer, cut out and made a banner out of it. I glued a sequin and silver dew drop on top of the banner after adhering trim to the edges of the sleeve of the matchbox.

I filled this one with mini jiggle bells, sequin trees, snowflake ornament, brads, dew drops, etc. You would be surprised at how much you can stuff in one of those little matchboxes.

I love altering these! All I do is gather up my scraps...which is a great way to use them up...and decorate. If you have any questions about these projects please let me know.

Thanks for stopping by, hope your Monday is awesome and enjoy creating!

Rustic Christmas Stocking

Hi everyone! Canvas Corp and Petaloo Flowers are blog hopping together and I want to share a  project I created using the Large Burlap Stocking and Petaloo DIY Burlap Flowers which can be painted or misted to compliment your projects. I don't own a sewing machine and I sure didn't want to hand sew everything to the stocking so I used Beacon Adhesives Fabri-Tac. It "grabs" fast and dries quick which I love!
I started by adding from my own stash green Ric Rac and red pom poms to the cuff of the stocking.

I misted two of the larger DIY flowers with Gold Glimmer Mist and set a side. The smaller DIY flower I sprayed Plain Jane Baseboard Fire Mist into a disposable bowl and added a couple of drops of water and mixed and with a small paint brush applied the mixture to the flower and let dry. Once the larger flowers are dry I used the leftover Fire Baseboard mist and lightly applied color around the center.

I used the Holly Branch diecut to cut out three holly leaves from a 12x12 sheet of Green Burlap. I then applied Mod Podge to both sides of the leaves and once dry I spritzed on one side Kiwi Glimmer Mist.
Next I made a couple bows from the Natural Jute and Lime Green Hemp. Also I cut two three inch pieces of lace from the Lace Trimmings Assorted Pack, gathered in the center and  folded to make what looks like a fan and tied off with the Natural Jute. Now for the fun part arranging everything on the cuff. I added in a couple of buttons too for some visual interest.

Now it is finished and ready for Santa to fill with goodies. If you do have any questions about this project please let me know.
Be sure to hop over the Canvas Corp's blog HERE to see other decorated stockings for a chance to win up to eight stockings to decorate for your own family. Also hop on over to Petaloo blog HERE for a chance to win a prize package to make your holiday merry!

Robin's Nest: Altered Snowflake Gift Card Box

Hi everyone! I am here to share another quick Christmas project for the Robin's Nest. I give a lot of gift cards as presents and it seems like I am either running out to buy a card holder boxes or my mom is always needing one. I try and stock up after Christmas when everything is half off but sometimes I can't find those in the already picked over selection of Christmas items. I figured since I have this Bath and Body gift card box  why not alter it into something Christmasy/Winter that can be used for the season?

The more info on this project please go HERE.

Eileen Hull's New Diecut Release

Hi everyone! I am here to share my project for Eileen Hull's November Art with Heart Challenge.

Eileen has new diecuts called Stitchlets out this month and let me tell you I am in LOVE!!!
It is a combination of sewing and paper crafts all rolled into one! I started with the Embroidery Hoop diecut which I cut out twice with mat board. I spritzed with Tattered Angels Gold Glimmer Mist and I laid it the hoops off to the side to dry. (I didn't spray the circles that are in the center of the hoops since I won't be using them). Also I inked the "closure"/top of the hoop with silver ink.

Next I cut out flowers and leaves from felt with the Buttons, Border and Trim diecut. The pink flowers I layered four per flowers and tried off with cross stitch thread.

I layered two leaves and tied off with thread and the yellow flowers I actually cut it to make a spiral. I started by rolling the petal around each other until the center (two button holes) is left. I then add glue to that and pinch that to the bottom of the flower.  The border stem with leaves I cut from cardstock. I cut two leaves from that inked edges and shaped and added to the yellow flowers.

The larger hoop I tied various lace and some ric rac to the bottom. I drew a half circle from the larger hoop onto a double sided cardstock, cut out, used a decorative punch on the straight edge, inked the edges and then cut down the center. I adhered to the backside of the hoop and then curled the edges with a pencil to created a pocket.

Next I cut netting a little bit bigger than the smaller hoop and wrapped around the hoop and then adhered to the backside of hoop. I inserted the smaller hoop into the larger one and added a little glue to the backside.  Next while the hoop is still turned over I sprinkled sequins on the netting and then adhered a second netting over that and trimmed off the excess. The second set of hoops I adhered over that.

I arranged the flowers in the pocket and on the hoop and then glued down. I also used the Banners and Pennants diecut to finish off this fun and cut hoop.
Originally I hadn't planned on adding sequins and netting to the projects but I really do think it turned out great...if I do say so myself. ;-) I do plan on making more of these...maybe   sequins with a Christmas/winter theme?
If you do have any questions about this project please let me know.
