Flower Party Junk Journal

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share with you my project using Eileen Hull's newest collection of diecuts and embossing folders that have been released this month. I've been watching videos on YouTube and came across this video from Debbie-Anne of Ephemera's Vintage Garden turning file folders into junk journals and decided Eileen's diecuts would make great embellishments for a journal.

From the Romance Diecut I cut a variety of flower shapes from fabric, tulle and felt (twelve total).

I layered the flower and secured it with a brad.

Also I used a brad with a large flat surface so I could adhere buttons, sequin and a Dew Drop to the top of it. I cut two leaves from the Spring Leaves Diecut in felt. Adhered to the back of the flower along with lace, ribbon and Ric Rac.

I cut the ends off of a file folder so it would be nine inches high (plus I wanted the tab to be in the center of the journal). I scored 1/4 inch on either side of the fold of the file folder to create a spine. Then I measured six inches from the fold on the spine on either side and scored again. This creates a pocket for inside the front cover and the flap that will cover part of the outside cover.

Next I gathered a variety of "junk" for the pages in my journal. I used graph paper, book/music pages, envelope, cardstock, calendar page, etc. for a total of fifteen papers for the inside of the journal. I folded the papers in half and measured and poked small holes 1 3/4 inches apart down the center of the fold.

I sewed all the papers together.  

Next I tied off and then stitched the pages into the cover of the file folder.

The inside pocket I folded a piece of cardstock in half, rounded the edges and cut the fancy diecut from the Square Box Diecut as a tag pull for the pull out. Also I embossed Leather Paper with the Daisy Wreath Embossing Folder, inked over the raised area and cut to fit the inside tab and outside tab. I glued cardstock and a strip of embossed leather paper to the front and punched a small hole in the tab and added the fabric flower before adhering the other embossed paper leather to the inside cover.

Next I cut two of each of the following from these diecuts: Candy Drawer (cover) and Square Box. I embossed the candy drawer covers with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.

On the inside of the journal the flap of the envelope I folded each square box two inches at the bottom  and glued  on each side to create a pocket. Next adhered both to either side of the flap. 

Both of the candy drawer covers I folded the "v" end over and inked the edges and added a strip of cardstock to the center of each one.

I also cut flowers from the Pansy Diecut and a set of leaves from the Spring Leaves Diecut. I adhered those to the top of each tag along with a sequin and dew drop.

I cut from the Heart and Soul Flower Diecut a couple of the smallest flowers and adhered to the envelope. The envelope will be a great place to add journaling cards or little keepsakes. The bright and cheery yellow page I embossed with the Lace Medallions Embossing Folder. 

I had actually folded the pieces of cardstock in half before running it through the machine to emboss...texture on both pages. :-)

To finish off the journal I cut a forty-four inch piece of seam binding and folded in half. I worked the seam binding under the flower and then tied it off. All that has to be done is wrap the seam binding around the journal and then wrap around the flower to keep it closed.

There you have my project using Eileen Hull's diecuts and embossing folders and since I'm a flowery type of gal I know I am going to have a blast creating with all these! Bloomin' Cute Paper Dolly

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a quick post of a journal page I did in my Zoo Cutie Dori. The inserts for my dori I bought at Michaels for 3.99...I think? They come in a set of three. Since I have a lot scraps of cardstock I figure this will be a great way to use what I have laying around. I started by covering the page with a patterned cardstock.

The frozen Charlotte doll stamp is from Pink Persimmon but the company is no longer in business. I stamped the doll image and fussy cut (I also added a little pink pastel to her cheeks) and then cut a dress for her from the Party Dress Thinlits Set. The bouquet of flowers I cut from a magazine. Of course I had to add some lace, Ric Rac, sequins and Dew Drops to her dress to girly it up. I cut and added a banner to the bottom of the page and from my stash of diecuts I adhered the bloom where you are planted sentiment.

I adhered velvet trim to the edge of the page. I added the top half of a shipping tag and I decided it would be fun to add lace and twine and a couple charms. The silk flower I had received in a swap and I added the felt leaf which was cut from the Buttons, Border and Trim diecut and finished off with two buttons and twine.

Out of everything on this journal page the tag tab is my favorite! Love all the dangly stuff and the hot pink flower. :-)

Not so Plain Jane Journal

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you today a not so junky journal with you...it has a combination of cardstock/scrapbook paper, paper doilies, drawing paper and graph paper with no embellishments in it. Since I don't use a sewing machine I  also wanted to create a journal kinda like a Midori. This way  I could add booklets if I want or if I want to take the booklet out to make it easier to work on my page I could do that too.
The cover is created from a 12"x12" Kraft envelope. I scored five inches in on either end of the envelope and folded which gives it a spine approximate two inches wide. I adhered cardstock to the cover both on the outside and inside along with covering the spine on the outside.

I measured and marked off where I wanted to add jumbo eyelets to the spine. I then punched the holes with my Crop-A-Dile before setting the eyelets. Next I cut a strip of chipboard slightly smaller than the spine...width wise...the height of the chipboard was cut twelve inches. I covered it with cardstock and adhered to the inside of the spine. Where I had punched holes previously I went back punched again and added the eyelets to the holes and set them with the Crop-A-Dile. I didn't measure the 1/8 inch braided elastic but ran two strands through the eyelet holes and tied off on the inside of the spine. I tied these off pretty tight since I didn't want my booklets to fall out.

I found this Jane printable on Land of Nod Studio's site. I printed and fussy cut her out and adhered to the cover along with some scraps of patterned cardstock that I cut into banners. I printed the word "Journal" from the computer, added that and then framed with a metal bookplate. I adhered a butterfly diecut in the center and added next to the bookplate and finished off with a Dew Drop.

I almost forgot to mention that before I added cardstock to the inside I added clasps midway to both sides of the cover. The cardstock covered up the brads that I had to use to secure the clasps. Next I cut and tied off twine and seam binding to the back clasp.

The inside of the journal there are four signatures and each one has fifteen papers per signature for a total of thirty papers front and back for journaling, adding photos or a mix of both.

The best part of the signatures is you can take them out and work on them without having the bulk of the journal...makes it a lot easier. I left the thread hanging from where I sewed the signatures together. I might add a heart or butterfly punch to each...might...still pondering on that. :-) Also if I want to I can add more signatures to this journal too. :-)

The back of the journal is a pocket to add loose bits and pieces ephemera.

I covered the inside of the flap with some patterned cardstock since if it got wet it could close and possibly seal itself which would be a bad thing. As always if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

Jane Austen and Tea

Hi everyone! Last month was a sparse month as for as projects and blogging went  I started the next phase of remodeling of the laundry room/den and kitchen. My parents have been coming over four days out of the week each week which I am very thankful for...it has been slow going but without them it would definitely be a snails pace as far as what has been accomplished so far. Ceiling have been scraped of popcorn and painted up to where the den ends and the kitchen begins as well as walls primed and today we start painting the walls with an actually color...YEAH!!! 
Well, enough about remodeling and on with this little teacup I created. I started with Teacup diecut and cut it from Anna Griffin's Garden Party Stack and assembled according to the directions.

 I adhered a wade of tissue paper inside of the teacup. I purchased the Jane image from Art Tea Life by One Crab Apple on Etsy. I printed and fussy cut her out and adhered to the tissue paper inside of the cup. I cut a strip of dark green tulle and tied off every two inches...it beats trying to sewing it...and then I started bunching it up inside the teacup and gluing to the tissue paper as I went.

I used the leaves out of the Secret Garden and the Hydrangea (no longer available) diecuts. I cut those out and shaped. I used my Martha Stewart punch for the little leaf sprigs which I shaped also. I added flowers from my stash along with pearl sprays, sequins, Dew Drops, trim around the base and I bunched up a paper doily to finish off Miss Jane and her cup of tea.

It's a Paper Flower Party with Eileen Hull!

Hi everyone! I am here to share a project I created using diecuts from Eileen Hull's newest collection that will becoming out in May. Since I love working with flowers diecuts I am so excited about all the new and re-release diecuts coming out!

The Flower Pocket project I actually created last year for display in Eileen's booth at CHA and I am now able to share it.

I adhered the box together according to the directions and then Mod Podge pieces of an old sewing pattern to the outside and inside of the Flower Pocket. The Heart and Soul Flower Diecut I cut one flower from white cardstock along with a leaf from the Spring Leaves Diecut.

I spritzed the flowers with Wedding Pink and the leaf with Moss glimmer mists. I put those to the side and let dry completely before shaping them.

I glued the flower shapes together along with the leaf and then added a vintage button and a Dew Drop to the center of the flower. I also added pom pom trim, Lace, thread and cording to finish off the box.
I foresee adding goodies to these flower boxes and giving them as gifts in the near future. There are so many ways you can use these!

Crafty Card Gallery: You Make Everything Bloom

Hi everyone! I am back to share a card I created from the Crafty Card Gallery blog and this month's challenge is flowers. I went with pre-made card from K and Company. All I had to do was fold the card in half and the base of my card was ready to decorate. I had actually started this card several months ago. I had added the doily and then put it aside.

I cut from the Beaded Circles Spellbinders die a circle in a bright patterned yellow cardstock and adhered it on the doily. I added various scraps of patterned cardstock on top of the doily and circle.

I printed the garden girl from the computer and fussy cut out and added a line of glue down the middle of the image. and placed on the card. I didn't want to add glue all over because I need to be able to add flowers, thread and tulle under the image. I punched leaves and small of the flowers from cardstock and shaped and adhered around the girl.

The sentiment is a stamp from Unity Stamp Company. I stamped, cut and adhered to the top corner of the card. I added another flower along Dew Drops and pearl sprays to finish off the card.

Rosebud Journal

Hi everyone! It been awhile since my last post but I started phase four of remodeling. First I had to move furniture around and then cover everything in plastic before I could start scraping popcorn off of the ceiling in the den/breakfast nook/kitchen. I would have been finished but I came down with sinus/cold crud and I spent three days very medicated and sleeping on and off but I'm finally feeling better even though I don't sound it...imagine man voice...ick. :-(

Anyway I had started and finished this little journal last month but hadn't got around to photographing it until today so I thought I would share. :-)

I started with Eileen Hull's Passport Diecut which I cut both covers from Matboard.

I wanted six signatures for my journal instead of three like was on the diecut so I created a pattern and used that to cut a spine from the Grey Paper Leather.

I punched holes for the signatures in the Paper Leather and then embossed with Brenda Walton's Floral Tapestry embossing folder (retired) and lightly inked it with chalk ink to bring out the embossing.

I keep the cover simple by only adding some Ric Rac, patterned cardstock and diecuts and the journal sentiment which I printed from the computer.

There are six papers per signature which I used a mix of scrapbook paper, doilies, mini paper bags, envelopes and cards. I used grey cording to attach the papers to the spine.

Now this little journal is ready for journaling, doodles and photos ( perfect size for Instax photos).
