Deluxe Cantilever Sewing Box

Hi everyone! I am back today with a project I created to give to my mom for Mother's Day. Truth be told I had started this project last year...I know bad 😖...but I always seemed to have something come up where I had to put it aside but I hunkered down and finished it finally!

I started by cutting twelve "boxes" and twelve "attachers" from Matboard using the Cantilever Sewing Box Diecut (retired). The sad thing is this sewing box diecut wasn't retired when I started working on this project and I have looked at several different website to see if I could find a link but I haven't had any luck.😦

 I did put these together according to the direction but since I doubled the size of the sewing box I adhered four of the bottom boxes together and then sets of two boxes together for a total of four two boxes sets. I added patterned cardstock to the inside and outside of all the boxes.

I inked the "attachers"with Beach Blends Ink and once dry I secured those to each of the box/drawers with a brad.

I embossed the lids with the Waffle Embossing Folder (retired) and inked both with the Beach Blends Ink. Once dry and before adding patterned cardstock to the other sides of the lids I glued a piece of seam binding to the under side of each lid. I then adhered both lids to the top of each box/drawer. On the box/drawer on either side I adhered a piece of seam binding and cover the end that was glued to the box with a button.

I cut two ovals from matboard using the center of oval diecut from the Trinket Box and Frame Book and Pages Diecut. I cut patterned fabric slightly larger than the oval diecuts. I slowly adhered one end of the fabric to the underneath side of the oval and started adding cotton batting and once I got it stuffed like I wanted I adhere the rest of the fabric to the bottom. I completed the same steps for the other oval die. 

I adhered both to the top of each lid to create pin cushions. Next I added pom pom trim around both pin cushions.

I had leftover flowers and leaves from previous projects that I had cut from Journaling Card, Flowers and Leaves Diecuts. The larger flower I used a combo of Simply Sheer Soft Peach and Gold Glimmer Mists and in the center I inked the smaller flower with Wildberry Blends Ink. I added a gem to the center of the flower.

I inked the leaves with Frog and Leaf Blends Inks. I also added thread bows and pearl sprays. 

 I now got to fill it with fun sewing notions! I found the little spools of thread at Family Dollar a couple of years ago and it came with needles and the little thing that helps thread your needles??? What is it called??? 😳 

The tiny pair of scissors I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby and the tomato pin cushion I found at Walmart in the craft and sewing section.

A peek underneath the lid which will make a great place to store lace and trim.

 There you have it! My Mother's Day project! It took a while to finish but I think my mom will really love it.
