Alice in Wonderland Junk Journal

Hi there! What a busy month this has been!!! I'm still in the middle of remodeling my bathroom and having back problems to boot…it bites getting old…which makes it hard to sit, move or do much of anything.
I do want to share some photos of a junk journal I created along with a short video of the 132 pages that are inside.
Also I am submitting my journal for Eileen Hull's Art with Heart "Anything Goes" Challenge that is going on this month. I had begun a ATB at the beginning of the month and it just wasn't coming together so I put it aside. I have learned hard lessons from trying to force creativity when it just isn't there and have came away with a ruined project. So maybe later something will click and I'll finish it.

I hope you enjoy the video. I had to learn how to use Adobe Element by myself…lots of trial and error on my part…but I think the video turned out ok considering. :-)

I added two signatures which was 16 papers in one and 17 papers in the other signature which is 132 pages front and back.

The pocket watch is a Tattered Angels chipboard piece that I painted with some Tim Holtz Distressed Crackle Paint, added a Marion Smith bunny image and finished off with lace, buttons, dew drop and flowers.

Pages and pages of fun crafty goodness!

Close up of one of the pockets with tags.

I had received the green tea bag and the tea cup brad in swaps and I was glad I was able to use them on this page. The Mad Hatter image is from a collage sheet I got from Altered Pages.

The Robin's Nest: Blue Dahlia

Hi everyone! I'm here to share a chest I created out of a Pringles can. Yep, that is right…a Pringles can. I looked on Pinterest and YouTube for inspiration and all I could find was cans decorated where the lid comes off and there was a few videos where both ends were cut off  of the can and then a straight line was drawn and cut from one end to another. Then the ends were traced onto chipboard, cut out and adhered to each end. Well I thought why can't you leave the ends on and just trace the "lid" onto the can and then cut? Well, I'm going to show you how to create a Pringle's chest using this month's featured Floral Collection from the Robin's Nest. For more photos and how to create this little chest please head on over to the Chattering Robin's blog.

If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks for stopping by, hope your Sunday is great and enjoy creating!

Enjoying a Dog Gone Good Day

Hi everyone! I created a card for my son's girlfriend. Her birthday was yesterday and we won't be getting together until later on but I just had to share. :-)
She fosters dogs until she can find a forever home so I thought I would do something in a dog theme for her.
I cut a 6"x6" piece of striped cardstock for the front of the card, cut a 5 1/2"x5 1/2" piece of Gold and Pink Daisy Glitter Cardstock, inked the edges and then adhered to the base. Next I printed out the dog digi image and fussy cut it out, stamped the "enjoy" sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and then I glued cut frames of cardstock for the sentiment and dog image, adhered each to the frame and then to the base. I finished off with punched flowers which I shaped, butterfly, ribbon, baker's twine and dew drops.

The easel I cut a 6"x 11" piece of cardstock and folded at 4", 4", 1", 1", 1" and I glued the 1" flap to the back of the 4" flap to create an easel. I cut from the leftover cardstock a pocket which I added glue to three of the sides and placed on the back of the easel. Next I adhered the card base to the easel and waaa-laaa! I simply and fun card! :-)

I am submitting this card for the following challenges:

White Mice and Buttons

Altered Pages Design Team
has joined the
Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog
Design Team for Challenge #14
Button It in a UP Blog Hop!

Crafters of every stripe are button hoarders! Buttons are pretty, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. If you are a card maker, quilter, layout artist, or anything in between, you probably have a button hoard! Buttons come in many sizes, styles, shapes, and colors, plus they are easy to store...usually in cute containers! Pull out those bins of buttons and use some of them for your challenge project!  You can participate in the Craft Hoarders Challenge and win a prize from the blog sponsor... Altered Pages!

I admit it! I have tons of buttons stored in jars, boxes and even little baggies from the many swaps I have participated in the past and for me it is sometimes hard to turn loose of them and use them in my projects. But I would like to share a quick gift card holder/wall decoration that is easy to create using buttons and an empty toilet paper roll.  Are you ready to get started? :-)

First off I painted the toilet paper roll inside and out. Once dry dry I flattened the roll which I ran it through my Sizzix die cutting machine to flatten it but if you don't have one you can use a bone folder to get crisp edges. I used the Tim Holtz Scallops die on the bottom of the TP roll and the top I embossed with Geometric Ring embossing folder. Then I applied mod lodge on the outside, let dry and the inside the scalloped bottom added a thin line of mod lodge and clipped together with clothes pin and let dry.

Next I adhered a ban of cardstock from the Happy Travels Paper Pad right below the embossing on the TP roll, added lace, ribbon and seam binding bow to the outer edge of the roll. I cut a 10" piece of seam binding for the handle and adhered each end to the inside of the roll. Then I finished it off with flowers that I punched out from  one of the Text Pages, shaped just a little, layered and adhered together and topped off with hemp cord and a button.

I cut one of the Victorian Labels out and glued to a piece of cardstock, added gathered lace, hemp cord and  buttons in various spots along with a couple of paper flowers to finish off this re-purposed and now useful project.

I hope you have enjoyed my project and if you have any questions please let me know.

Hope Whispers

Hi! I'm back to share a quick card I created for Paper Wings Productions August "Anything Goes Challenge"  you can do any type of project as long as it has some type of stamping on the it. I had ordered the Tea Time Mix Media Kit from Paper Wings and received this free Hope Whispers cling stamp with my purchase. I had already started this card and thought this sentiment would be the perfect touch to finish off my card.

The card base is 3"x5 1/2" folded. I inked the base and all scraps of cardstock with chalk ink and adhered to the front of the card. I fussy cut the Digital Bird Image and stamped the Hope Whispers sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock and adhered both to the card. I finished off with a sequin and Dew Drop

It is a perfect little card to give someone a lift and to tell them not to give up.
Be sure to stop by and play in this month's challenge over at Paper Wings Productions!

Snowflake Snowman

Hi everyone! We are almost half way through August! Can you believe that??? Summer has sure flown for me. I have painted one of our bathroom and three coats of paint later I can say the walls are finished. Now all I need is to paint the trim and door, install the new light and flooring, vanity, mirror, faucet, make a curtain and I'm finished. :-)
I want to share a snowman decoration I created. I received a box full of Smooth Foam ornaments last year for a blog hop and this is one of the leftovers I didn't use in the hop.
First off I applied gesso to the ornament, let dry and then painted with white acrylic paint. While the ornament was drying I shaped a carrot nose from orange Sculpey Clay and baked according to the directions on the package. I also cut from a sheet of vintage sheet music a small hat. I rolled it into a cone and adhered together and glued silver tinsel along the bottom of the hat.

I adhered two black dew drops and carrot nose to the ornament shape, painted a dot for the mouth and then I applied Antique Mod Podge all over then covered in glitter.

I painted a chipboard snowflake white and once dry I applied antique Mod Podge and sprinkled glitter over the whole snowflake. I then adhered to the base of the ornament the snowflake, tied seam binding around the "neck" and finished off with dew drops to the bow and snowflake.

Lastly I glued the little hat to the snowman's head. Easy peasy decoration to set out at Christmas or a super cute gift to give. :-)

SmoothFoam: Ornament, Robin's Nest: Dew Drops, Seam Binding, Glitter, Sculpey Clay, Tinsel, Vintage Sheet Music, Chipboard Snowflake, Black and White Acrylic Paint, Gesso
