Steampunked Owl Container

Hi everyone! I would like to share with you a super easy project I created for The Robin's Nest using some of the Hot Flame Line which is on sale this month for 20% off over at their store

Also The Robin's Nest this month has teamed up with Love Bug Creations in which The design team get to use their Rupple Ribbons which is sooooo vivid and fun to use!!!
I had a empty Crystal Light container that I wanted to use for my project and when I first seen the Hot Flame Line the first thing that crossed my mind was motorcycles, racing and barbecue. I knew I wanted to do something different but I didn't know what.

First I decided I was going to add a "wash" to the Damask Black and White cardstock. I mixed Ceramcoat Green Tea paint and water together and then sponged painted the cardstock. Rub the excess paint off of the black Damask then heat emboss the cardstock to dry it. Once dry spritz with Perfect Pearls Mists Sour Apple Spray and dry again. Now it has a metal shimmery look to the paper. Next cut Black Classic Glitter Cardstock to fit and adhere to the container. Cut the Damask Black and White cardstock 4 inches high and then to fit around the container, center between the Black Classic Glitter Cardstock and adhere.

Next cut from the Plum Watercolor cardstock a Frame Back, Ornate Die and emboss with Fleur De Lis Embossing Folder and adhere to the container. Glue the black mini pom pom trim around the top and bottom of container.

Well, after studying the Mango Flame Thermal Icing cardstock I thought the flames kinda looked like little wings and after much thought I decided to free hand a owl on the cardstock. Next I used the Scalloped Oval and cut two ovals from the leftover Damask Black and White. One I used for the stomach of the owl and the other for the top of the container. Next I cut another Scalloped oval from the Kiwi Glitter Sobert which I cut in half to look like wings. I spritzed with the Sour Apple spray. Next cut a small triangle shaped piece of cardstock for the beak and adhere it to the owl along with the "eyes".

Next make a small bow using the Rupple Ribbon Green Grass. Adhere it to the side of the container. Add buttons to the center of the bow. Punch leaves from the Chili and Mango Flame cardstock, crumple up and then glue behind the buttons and ribbon.

A Star is Born Altered Coffee Sleeve Mini Album

Hi everyone! I'm super excited to share a mini album I created for The Robin's Nest design team call that I am trying out for again. When you finish checking out my blog post stop by the Robin's Nest online store and see what is new in the store and be sure to check out their blog, Chattering Robin's to check the rest of the design team projects too.

I found on You Tube a tutorial by Simplyshimmeryscraps for this adorable coffee cup sleeve mini that I getting ready to share with you. I have included the link for her directions here. I figure this would be easier than trying to write out a VERY lengthy set of directions. :-)
You can pick up coffee sleeves at almost any place that serves coffee. The ones I used to create this little mini came from Panera Beard they are slightly bigger than the ones that you can get at Starbucks.

I used the Special Girl cardstock and embellishments that brand spanking new from The Robin's Nest. The collection is SO girly and cute!!!

Here is a list of supplies I used:

Special Girl Pink Roses on Green Cardstock
Special Girl Brilliant Pink Swirl
Special Girl Special Delivery Cardstock
Special Girl Baby Girl Stickers
Special Girl Little Friends Baby Girls
Special Girl Special Girl Embellies
Dew Drops
Lovebug Creations Sunflower Seam Binding
Buttons
Ribbon
Lace
Fiber
Charms
Jewels (Bling)
Eyelets
Chipboard
Four Coffee Sleeves
Prima Flowers
Scraps of scrapbook paper, leftover stickers, embellishments

First off you will need to trace around the coffee sleeve with your choice of cardstock doing both sides for all four sleeves. Also I inked the edges of all the coffee sleeves. Cut out card stock and adhere to each side of the sleeves.

Cut a piece of cardstock to 6 7/8x 4 inches for the binding hinges. Each end of the cardstock  score 1 inch and then score 3/8 inches till you get to where you scored the 1 inch end.

Fold and adhere each "hinge" in the center. Your binding should look something like this below.

Next use a liquid glue to adhere each sleeve to each hinge.

This is how your pages should look after placed and glued on the binding hinge.

Next you need to cut two 2 3/4 x 5 inches for the front and back and the spine cut a 2 x 5 inches of chip board for your mini. Also please watch the video from Simplyshimmeryscraps which will go into detail directions on how to adhere the hinge to the covers and spine. I did take photos of how to do that but as far as explaining it in writing I think it would be better to watch the video...lol
Below is the finished cover of my mini.

I punched holes in the spine, added eyelets, chain, lace, ribbon, fiber and charms.

In one of the flowers on the front of my mini I used one of the Special Girl Little Friends Baby Girls and added it inside of the little flower.

Below is the rest of the photos of the inside of the mini.

I also added inserts to the sleeves. For those I actually made a a pattern of the sleeve and then cut it a little bit smaller.

The Special Girl Baby Girl Stickers where a little bit too big so I cut them down some so they would fit on the pages. I added Dew Drops to give them a little extra zing. :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by!!! I hope this inspires you to create a mini album for yourself. Remember enjoy creating!!!
